How to overcome imposter syndrome and walk in your purpose

Are you a perfectionist who strives to achieve all of your goals? Does it ever seem like you don’t live up to those expectations? Do you routinely believe that people will realize that you are not as smart or creative or talented as they think you are? If so, then you may be experiencing something called “imposter syndrome.” It’s a feeling of self-doubt and inadequacy often experienced by high achievers, who misinterpret their success as being based on luck or misunderstanding. However, this feeling is not real; it is an illusion caused by our minds misinterpreting self-critical thoughts. You can learn how to make peace with your accomplishments and stop blaming yourself for everything — including negative situations — by embracing the truth about yourself.

In everyday life, it’s inevitable that you will face challenges and experience situations where all you can think about are the many ways you can fail. It does not matter if you believe yourself to be a confident person or not—we all have an inner critic, which we should not ignore it. The negative thinking and doubt are not to be dismissed, because they are likely a reaction to something deeper in your life. If you resist them consistently, they may take over your entire purpose. Learning the secrets to silencing the inner critic is important to moving forward in life, especially if you’d like to live a purpose driven life.

Calm your inner critic
If you feel like you are an imposter, there are ways to get over the feeling. For starters, it can be helpful to seek honest feedback from your inner circle. It is equally important to give yourself the same amount of faith and support that you would give to loved ones. By doing this, you can develop a deeper relationship with yourself and become more open to feedback. If you have a difficult time walking in your purpose, a mentor can provide you with a great deal of help.

Another important technique for overcoming imposter syndrome is to practice the SBNRR technique (Stop, Breathe, Notice, Reflect & Respond). This method helps you to put yourself in the present moment and realize your strengths and capacities. It also helps to receive feedback from people you respect and trust, especially if you are facing discriminatory views or have been treated unfairly by others.

Many people develop impostor syndrome when they feel undervalued and unworthy. Those born into high-pressure environments or families are more likely to suffer from this. In addition, those who feel like they are not good enough are less likely to embark on new endeavors. In order to overcome impostor syndrome, you must learn to quiet your inner critic. Often, this voice criticizes you and makes excuses for not trying.

While it is important to accept compliments and other praise, you must also learn to accept them without qualifying them or explaining them away. By doing this, you can start to feel the positive impact of your efforts.

Practice Daily Reassurances
To overcome the feeling of “not being good enough”, start by identifying your strengths. Focusing on your weaknesses will make you feel less capable. You should also ask your family and friends for advice. Alternatively, you can consider seeing a therapist who can help you explore the underlying causes and work through your feelings. Imposter syndrome is a common anxiety disorder that affects people in creative fields. It can affect a person’s self-confidence and prevent them from taking necessary the next steps towards growth.

Here are a few ways to combat the feeling of not being “good enough”:

Avoid comparing yourself to others and their achievements. When you’re feeling this way, it’s easy to discount your own accomplishments. Instead, acknowledge them. Even if your achievement is small, it speaks volumes about your own skill, preparation, and effort. By giving yourself credit for your achievements, you’ll learn to cope with the condition and walk in your purpose.

Avoid making unrealistic goals. When you’re feeling like an imposter, you often feel like a fraud and don’t deserve what you’re doing. You may begin to question your worth, and even question whether you’re even capable of doing the work that you’ve been dreaming of. This can be damaging and even lead to depression.

For many of us, we often think disparaging thoughts about ourselves that slowly pile up. We all have some level of self-doubt, both in our work and personal lives. But if that self-doubt becomes excessive and undermines your ability to be productive, it can be frustrating and prevent you from reaching your goals. It’s important to remember that your inner critic is craving self-love and acceptance, so the sooner you can calm it down, the better. While your inner critic is always there, building a connection with it will help you lessen the noise from your inner critic.

Friendly reminder: you are awesome, and you are not alone.
